Digital Printing
Perfect for self-publishers, digital printing allows for a small print run of your books. It’s also great for small and medium-sized businesses that may not want to print more than they need. With Digital printing, you choose whether to print all the pages in colour or black and white or just print selected pages in colour or black and white. If you’re gunning for a print run of 500 max, digital printing is the way to go.
Offset Printing
If you will distribute your book or published material to a bigger audience (more than 500 people), offset printing works best for you. Generally used on books, periodicals, magazines, newspapers, and the like, offset printing yields high-quality printing in large quantities whether what’s being printed is pure text, pure graphics, or a mix of both.
Binding and Finish
o Saddle Stitch. It’s the quickest bookbinding process that doesn’t cost an arm and a leg. If you’re trying to beat a deadline. It’s the go-to binding process for many magazines but perfect for company profiles, annuals, and the like.
o Perfect Binding. Also known as softcover book binding, perfect binding will have the interior pages bound and glued at the spine before binding it in a soft cover. Once done, the cover and pages are cut on the opposite side of the spine, creating an overall look for the bound book that is crisp and “perfect”.
o Spiral Binding. If you’re after a book or booklet that can be laid flat and opened wide, spiral binding is for you. The binding is a spring-like plastic that lends durability and functionality for an often-used reading material in corporate and office set-ups. Spiral binding is great for technical documents, calendars/diaries, and many more.
o Wire Binding. Looks like spiral binding but uses looped wire over the punched pages, still allowing for the book to be laid flat and opened wide.
o Hardcover Binding. Also called case binding, it’s where the pages are sewn together and bound along with the end sheets into a hard casing usually made of cardboard that’s wrapped in a sheet of leatherette, clothing, vinyl, and the like.
For your book covers, we offer a variety of finishes depending on the kind of material you choose to bind your book with. We can have an embossed cover, foil-stamped cover, gloss finish, matte finish, and many more! Explore options for your book printing with Custom Printing. Call us today!
